Routine Appointment
What is involved during a routine appointment?
Regular checkups allow us to treat problems early! During your regular checkups, we:
- examine the health of your mouth,
- measure the bone levels around your teeth,
- check for decay,
- screen for oral cancer,
- examine your restorations,
- evaluate your bite,
- and the dental hygienist will remove plaque and calculus (tartar) from your teeth.
After the completion of the exam, short educational movies may be played about certain conditions. Brief and enlightening, they’re designed to promote discussion, enabling you and your dental professional to determine the best possible treatment options. Our goal is to provide you with accurate, up-to-date, helpful information so you can make a well-informed choice.
Your six-month exam and cleaning are a critical part of a preventive program. This routine appointment is the best way for you to prevent advanced dental problems, and minimize the time and money you spend in the dental chair.
